Why Iliamna?
Alaska Grizzly Safaris is located in Iliamna, Alaska — surrounded by the same bear-rich ecosystems that make nearby Katmai National Park world-renowned. In early September, grizzlies are at peak activity, fattening up for winter as salmon crowd the rivers. This remote base offers unmatched access to wildlife without the crowds of popular locations like Brooks Falls.
“I had almost no wildlife photography experience going in, but this bear expedition was truly epic. Being up close with wild bears in their natural environment felt like something out of a documentary. Jason made every moment feel accessible and exciting—even for a beginner like me.”
