Off to Isla…

In two days I leave to Isla Mujeres to co-lead this year’s Wetpixel Whale Shark Expedition with Adam Hanlon of  I’ll be there for two weeks and we’ll have 1 group for the first week and another for the second week we are there.  Isla was an incredible experience last year, and I’m very excited to get back in the water with the world’s largest fish; I hear manta rays are around this year too.

Typically whale sharks are elusive, despite their large size, but every summer they come in huge numbers to the waters right off of Cancun, Mexico.   There, they feed on small tunny eggs, which is a common Atlantic tuna.  The eggs are very tiny but attract the whale sharks in big numbers.  Here are a few shots from last year’s trip.  More to come in a few weeks.  Wish me luck!!
